If you find yourself in Nassau for a day on your next Bahamas or Caribbean cruise, donβt just stay on the ship and hit the bar. Instead, hit the bar on Pearl Island π΄ and swim with some pigs π· while youβre at it!

I know lots of people have been to Nassau more times than they care for, and some of them (maybe fairly) like to stay on their cruise ship when theyβre in this port. Cool, I guess. But being located in San Antonio, Texas, my attitude leans toward βIβm probably going to have a cooler day in Nassau than I would in San Antonio,β so Iβd better find something to do. π

On our last port stop in Nassau, we discovered a fun excursion offered by Carnival: swimming with pigs π·. Now, itβs not the famous Pig Island you might have seen on the Discovery Channel with wild pigs left by pirates. This is a delightful day trip from the dock in Nassau to Pearl Island π΄, a tiny rock with a charming lighthouse and a couple of bars surrounded by water in every shade of blue π. You can swim, snorkel, enjoy the beach, and drink. And when itβs your turn, you can swim with some massive hogs π.

The actual pig experience is less about swimming and more about wading knee-deep, feeding pigs hot dogs and apple slices ππ. Itβs hilarious and unique, and frankly, the water is beautiful and blue π. The pigs are cute, so if you donβt have fun, the problem is probablyβ¦you. It can be a long, hot afternoon, but Iβd take a long, hot afternoon on a beach in the Bahamas any day of the week. And with a side of bacon, pretty much everything is better, right? π₯π
